Messiah Lutheran Church is thrilled to be sponsoring Pastor Kristin Engstrom, a Missionary through the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, to serve in Zambia.
Pastor Kristin serves as the Facilitator for Leadership Development and Capacity Building with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zambia. She previously served as the Senegal Country Coordinator for the ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission program from 2016-2020. Pastor Kristin is originally from the mid-western United States and served as a parish pastor in northern New Jersey for six years prior to beginning her call with ELCA Global Mission.

Messiah is committed to supporting our companion churches and fellow Lutherans around the world in a variety of ways. Each year we support an ELCA missionary and we are excited to support Pastor Kristin. We are also fortunate that our own member Victoria Boyce visited with our companions in Bosnia in June 2019 and Pastor Courtney served as a Young Adult in Global Mission (South Africa 2016-2017) prior to joining us.

ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM)
The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission program invites ELCA young adults ages 21-29 into a transformative, year-long journey in international service. As they offer themselves in service, ELCA young adults are shaped by the witness of our global neighbors. They share in the journeys of companion churches and organizations in one of nine countries around the world.
Current YAGM country programs include Argentina/Uruguay, Jerusalem/West Bank, Senegal, Mexico, United Kingdom.
Pastor Courtney’s YAGM Experience
Pastor Courtney served as a Young Adult in Global Mission in Southern Africa from 2016-2017. She lived in a township outside Johannesburg, South Africa, and worked with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa (South Africa, Eswatini, Lesotho, and Botswana).
